New Denver renewable energy project wins “Deal of the Year” award from Metro Denver EDC. A major Denver economic development win — the new SMA Solar Technology manufacturing plant in Stapleton — was recognized as the “deal of the year” today by the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation. The award was presented to SMA Solar Technology today during MDEDC’s Sixth Annual Report to Investors and Awards Luncheon.
The MDEDC’s Deal of the Year Award recognizes a company that has created the largest economic impact to the region through new job creation and capital investment.
October 26, 2009: In order to optimize the supply of inverters to the growing North American solar market, Germany-based SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) will establish its first North American production facility at Stapleton’s Enterprise Park in Denver, Colorado. Production is scheduled to begin in 2010 with 300 employees and grow to 700 jobs producing the inverters that convert direct current (DC) generated by residential solar panels to grid-acceptable alternating current (AC). Enterprise Park in the award winning Stapleton neighborhood has easy access to a network of regional highways, Denver International Airport (DIA) and Downtown Denver.
