Construction Completed

-Installation of vehicle detection loops and railroad crossing construction on Holly Street in Denver

-Erection of canopies at the Central Park Station platform in Denver

-Construction of the elevator tower at the 40th Ave. & Airport Blvd Gateway Park Station in Aurora

Construction Underway

-Roadway reconstruction and sidewalk installation on Smith Road, east of Chambers Road in Aurora

-Corridor protection barrier installation on 40th Avenue between Blake and York streets in Denver

-Albion Street utility relocations and roadway median removals in preparation for roadway reconstruction project in Denver

Upcoming Construction

-Installation of the plinths (concrete blocks which hold the rail) for the I-70 Flyover in Aurora

-Electrical transformer installation at the 40th/Colorado and 38th/Blake stations in Denver

-Reconstruction of 33rd Avenue between Moline and Peoria streets in Aurora

-Erection of station canopies at the Peoria Station in Aurora

Feature of the Month: RTD Commuter Rail Vehicles

-Heavier and travel faster than light rail vehicles, but operate in a similar way, using overhead electric lines

-Will travel up to 79 miles per hour, go longer distances and make fewer stops than a typical light rail system

-Passengers will be able to walk directly from the station platform onto the vehicles without climbing stairs, as each door offers level boarding
