 Central Park Recreation Center

We can’t believe it either, but it’s been three years since we opened the Central Park Recreation Center in Stapleton. This amazing amenity continues to grow and evolve, making it indispensable to the community.

Did you know Central Park Recreation Center was then, and remains now, the biggest rec center in Denver at 57,000 square feet? From the first day of operation, the Center has been a vibrant fixture for residents of the northeast corridor. Central Park is more than just a recreation center for the Stapleton community; we attract citizens from a number of surrounding neighborhoods too.

Along with our outstanding recreation programs for adults and youth, we have a top-notch aquatics facility, the largest gymnasium in the City’s recreation system and the department’s only childcare facility. Now that we have marked our third anniversary, we are committed to keeping Central Park the outstanding facility that it is.

Due to the popularity of our Fitness and Cardio Room, we have sought out the best equipment for our guests. Recently, we added all new, top-of-the-line equipment to Central Park. Our members may have noticed 12 new Precor Treadmills, 12 Precor Elliptical, 6 Life Fitness Upright Bikes and 6 Life Fitness Recumbent Bikes that were delivered and are ready to support the New Year’s resolutions we all make for a healthier and stronger year.

Additionally, the fitness program added more Yoga, Core Training and Barre Fit classes to the schedule. Our personal training programs are extremely popular, as are the dedicated “Ask the Trainer” floor hours in the weight room, where personal trainer representatives are available to answer your fitness questions and give solid advice about proper lifting techniques. Finally, to address the many new mommies in the area, this spring will bring a Baby and me Yoga program.

Undoubtedly, the swimming pool is busier than ever. The group and private swim lesson programs continue to grow. Our Pool Party Birthday package is one of the more popular programs for kids looking to celebrate a fun day at the pool with friends. In March, the pool will launch our new lifejacket program, providing Coast Guard-approved lifejackets for non-swimmers over the age of three.

At the Central Park Recreation Center, we strive to offer opportunities for all ages — from our Silver Sneakers programs to our youth sports and summer camps. And don’t forget the very popular Saturday Night Live, where kids get a night in and parents get a much-deserved night out!

The first three years of operations have flown by, and we look forward to many more being a member of this vibrant community.
