INTERESTING THINGS IN INTERESTING PLACES.
Good design creates a better experience. It’s about how you treat people, rewarding them for getting out of their cars, looking up from their smart phones, and engaging the world around them. Which is why Stapleton has set a very high standard for residential, commercial and landscape architecture.
Good design is also proven to add lasting value. Which is whyForest City Enterprises, Stapleton’s urban planner and real estate developer, has included public art as an important part of the design mix. A demonstration of their long-term commitment to the community.
Public art at Stapleton, now numbering 16 public art pieces(right), adds value to the landscape and enhances the Stapleton experience. As the community grows, the collection grows, and so does the experience.
STAPLETON’S PROGRAM
The Public Art Master Plan was adopted in early 2005, providing guidelines and inspiration for dynamic public art throughout Stapleton. A public art selection committee of local artists, residents and other community representatives carefully selects the art. The committee evaluates art proposals based on criteria such as artistic excellence, suitability for the site, accessibility and sustainability. (Qualities of Stapleton itself.)
A Public Art Advisory Committee continues to explore new artwork for placement in carefully chosen locations throughout Stapleton – to inspire thought and conversation. “Public art has not only the opportunity but the responsibility to engage a community,” explains Barbara Neal, public art consultant.
In other words, a world with art is a more interesting world.
