Enjoy sun-inspired fun at the Discovery Center this weekendPosted on May 11, 2011
We're hosting fun events every weekend at the Stapleton Discovery Center (7706 Martin Luther King Blvd). Here's what's on the horizon!
It’s Getting Hot in Here, so…
Thursday, May 12 11am-1pm
Come to the Stapleton Discovery Center for some hot tips on going solar this year. It’s easier than you think, and you’ll be amazed at the kinds of things the sun can power – from solar frogs, to solar cars, to, well, entire homes. And all these cool, solar-powered toys will be energized and ready to go during our 4-day Solar Celebration. What’s really cool is that Stapleton’s Central Park West home builders provide solar as a standard feature and all of the builders in this new neighborhood offer solar options at pretty hot savings. Come check out all the amazing energy efficiency and environmental aspects of Central Park West.
It’s So Hot, We’re Doing it Twice
Friday, May 13 11am-1pm
With two days in a row of solar fun in the sun, the Stapleton Discovery Center is burning hot right now. More solar demonstrations, new solar toys to play with, and special heat-seeking giveaways (don’t even go there) today’s event will be just as steamy as yesterday’s—but totally different.
Sun Kisses Aren’t So Loving, but This Event IS!
Saturday, May 14 11am-1pm
With skin cancer rates at an all time high, we now know that freckles are not the sun kisses we all thought they were. But how do you know if UV rays are reaching you? Well, Steve Spangler’s UV bead bracelets will show you every time. Solar-baked cookies, bracelet making, and other solar feats, hosted by Solar Goods, will be part of today’s Solar for the Stars event. And we’ll be demonstrating and giving away solar air balloons as part of this lofty celebration!
Solar Speed Boat Races Fishtail at the Discovery Center
Sunday, May 15 11am-1pm
Solar boat, solar boat, go so slow. Solar boat, solar boat, go so fast. Solar boat, solar boat, step on the gas! Join us at the Discovery Center to test your boat racing skills in a solar contest of speed. Prizes will go to the top 10 winners. If you’re not racing, you can bubble up in the foam machine. The boats, the speed ponds (i.e. inflatable pools), and all solar displays of speed and power will be given away at the end of the event.
