A Dog’s Perspective (Miss February)
Posted on February 5, 2012Hello. I’m Pork Chop.
I hate to admit it, but I’m a catch. I think that’s why I was picked to be Miss February in the 2012 Dogs of Stapleton Calendar.
And it’s not my first time in the limelight. My parents owned a photography studio, so I’ve been in a family calendar; there’s a painting of me in the house; and I’m always posing for photos. Still ... as hard as it is to believe, I’m single.
Well, maybe this calendar will help me find my valentine. Either way, let’s get on with the interview …
Forest City Stapleton: Thank you, Miss February. Tell us, how do you stay so beautiful?
Pork Chop: (Pork Chop laughs, while throwing back a paw). Darling, I’m glad you asked. I would have to credit it to good genes … and a lady must get her beauty sleep.
Forest City Stapleton: Do you take a lot of naps?
Pork Chop: I don’t want to give away any secrets, but yes. Probably two or three a day.
Forest City Stapleton: It shows … what would be your perfect day in Stapleton?
Pork Chop: You know, I have my fans. So I like to take walks and greet the neighbors. I also try to sleep in and eat breakfast with the family before I take my first nap.
Forest City Stapleton: Do you exercise?
Pork Chop: Of course! I love to fetch and play tug-of-war … I also live with a small human who rides me around the house. Now you see why I take so many naps …
Forest City Stapleton: Absolutely – that sounds exhausting. So, what’s your favorite part about Stapleton?
Pork Chop: It’s just so dog-friendly, and as a single lady, there are a number of parks to meet potential suitors. I mean, I’m 7 years old – I’m ready to settle down.
Forest City Stapleton: What’s your favorite park?
Pork Chop: I like the pocket park by my house off of 35th Avenue. It’s new, and there’s a slide I tried once. But I won’t do that again – I don’t need any new activities to get in the way of my beauty rest.
My parents also love how close we are to Central Park, trails and a pool. They also said something about a future commuter rail, but I’m not sure what that’s about …
Forest City Stapleton: Hmmmm. What about shopping? What’s your favorite store or restaurant in Stapleton?
Pork Chop: They say “the way to a dog’s heart is through his or her stomach …,” and that’s definitely true for me. I love anywhere that has treats, and U-Shampooch has some great ones!
Forest City Stapleton: That makes sense. Well, thank you for your time Pork Chop.
Pork Chop: Call me Miss February … and you’re welcome. Now, please – no more photos. This is getting embarrassing.
