Central Park Boulevard Project Update

The time has now come to set the girders and deck panels for the new Central Park Boulevard Bridge over I-70. On Friday night May 20 we will be closing down the highways around the Central Park Boulevard Interchange project, starting with a single left lane on I-270 EB at 6 PM. Then the I-70 EB and WB closure will start being implemented at approximately 10 PM with the full I-70 detour starting at midnight. It will be picked up by 7 AM Saturday.

Saturday 5/21 will be similar, however we will start a little earlier with the lighter weekend traffic. I-270 will still get a single left at 6PM, but I-70 EB and WB will start being implemented with a single left at 8PM, and progress to a full closure at 10PM. It will be picked up by 7AM on Sunday.

Sunday night 5/22 into Monday and Monday night 5/23 into Tuesday will also have similar closures. Sunday night will start early again (10PM full closure), Monday night won’t get that until midnight. These both will be picked up earlier, by 5AM on the weekday mornings.

I-270 WB will not be affected.

The on and off-ramps will be used as the detours. I-70 will be constricted down to one lane and then we will take traffic off on the ramps. They will go through the new diamond interchange and down the off-ramp back onto I-70. Pretty straightforward, but is strongly suggested traffic take alternate routes, especially the time-sensitive airport traffic on I-70 EB.
