RideSmart Thursdays
RideSmart Thursdays is a new program, which runs through October, in
Denver designed to give commuters a chance to discover and try out the
world of
commuting options available in the Denver Metro area. By choosing a new
way of commuting, Stapleton residents and employees can make a world
of difference
and save time, money, and keep the air clean and the highways clear.
Take the "RideSmart Thursdays Pledge" and find
a whole new way of commuting, one day a week. With six commuting options
to choose from it’s easy!
- Carpool Plus is a ride-matching database that makes it easy
to find carpool partners who live and work near you.
- RTD operates 175 bus routes throughout the Denver Metro area along with
nearly 25 light rail stations making it easy to find a convenient,
affordable ride. The RTD Transfer Station located at Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.,
just east of Quebec, makes this option easy for Stapleton residents
and
workers.
- Vanpooling give commuters who live and work near each other, and
travel more than 15 miles each way to work another alternative. Passengers
share a ride and pay a low monthly fee, while drivers receive free van use.
- Riding a bicycle not only offers health
benefits, but also it is easy to combine your bike with RTD. Storage
lockers and bike racks
are available
at many park-N-Ride locations. Stapleton’s numerous bike paths
enable residents and workers alike to enjoy this commute.
- Walking is the most dependable and healthy way to commute. A nice brisk walk
to your destination or a bus stop, light rail station or other
central pick-up or drop-off point can energize you.
- Telework from home. Instead
of driving into work, spend the day working from home.
In addition,
participating in the RideSmart Thursdays also provides a Guaranteed
Ride Home program. A free taxi ride home from the office
is
provided to
any employee who has an emergency arise, such as illness or an
unexpected schedule changes, on a day that they used alternative transportation.
