Onsite Parks

Stapleton Central Park

The new 80-acre Central Park is the heart of the community when it opens this year.  Located north of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, east of the Stapleton Control Tower, the park was completed in September 2007. In Central Park, you will find an urban forest and prairie mounds, the highest of which will reach 30 feet and provide an ideal sledding hill. Central Park’s gathering places will include a stage, cafe and play area, accommodating more than 4,000 people for concerts and lectures. Open grass areas will be ideal for soccer matches or a game of Frisbee.

Founders’ Green

The heart of Stapleton's first neighborhood is the 2.5-acre Founders' Green, located at the eastern end of the East 29th Avenue shopping district. The Green features an amphitheater seating 2,000 people, as well as a dramatic fountain area, benches, walking paths, trees and manicured lawns.

Pocket Parks

Numerous smaller “pocket” parks are placed throughout Stapleton’s various blocks and neighborhoods.  Every home is steps away from enjoying a shared park experience without having the burden of maintaining them - the Master Community Association maintains and mows the pocket parks for residents’ use!

Sand Creek and Westerly Creek Greenways

Sand Creek and Westerly Creek are significant natural corridors of the Stapleton Plan providing the ponds and wetlands necessary for enhanced water surface drainage. In addition to wildlife habitats, the developed creek areas offer delightful regional bikeways, as well as walking and equestrian trails.

Bluff Lake Nature Center

The Bluff Lake Nature Center is a 123-acre wildlife refuge located on the eastern edge of Stapleton. Opened in 1997, Bluff Lake provides an important habitat for a rich variety of wildlife including deer, fox, coyote, beaver, owls, waterfowl, hawks and migratory songbirds. Since its opening, more than 20,000 urban school children have visited Bluff Lake.
