Mayor Webb Announces Nobel/Sysco $40 million + Expansion
800 Jobs Saved with Opportunity for 200 More
Mayor Wellington E. Webb announced today that Nobel/Sysco Food Services
Company is investing over $40 million to move and expand it's Denver
operations to the former Stapleton Airport, keeping 800 current jobs in
Denver with plans for 200 more.

The company expects to occupy 500,000 square feet of office and
distribution
space on 50 acres north of I-70 at Stapleton by 4th quarter of 2004.

"Nobel/Sysco's investment saves 800 jobs in Denver with the opportunity
to
grow 200 more," said Mayor Webb, noting that Nobel/Sysco had
opportunities
to relocate elsewhere. "This deal demonstrates Denver's long-term
economic
strength."

"We are very pleased we were able to find a suitable site with Forest
City
at Stapleton." said Chris DeWitt, President and CEO, Nobel/Sysco Food
Services Corporation. "The Mayor's team has been instrumental in this
effort and we look forward to working closely with the City during our
move."

"Stapleton's regional highway access, its close proximity to Downtown
Denver
and Denver International Airport and its wonderful mix of housing
affordable
to a range of incomes clearly were among the considerations that played
a
significant role in Nobel/Sysco's decision," said John Lehigh, chief
operating officer for master developer Forest City Stapleton. "We were
pleased to be on the team with Mayor Webb and The Mayor's Office of
Economic
Development and International Trade that provided Nobel/Sysco with this
tremendous opportunity to remain in Denver and become part of a mixed
use
community that is winning recognition across the nation and around the
world."

"This is a great opportunity to keep a Denver institution in this City
while
enhancing Stapleton redevelopment," said City Councilman Ed Thomas, who
chairs the Special Projects Committee that oversees Stapleton
redevelopment.

"This success is the result of extraordinary efforts between Mayor Webb,
the
Mayor's Office of Economic Development and International Trade and
Forest
City to encourage an existing company to remain and grow in Denver,"
stated
Ron Bernstein, Director of the Mayor's office of Economic Development
and
International Trade. "In a time where cities and states are in direct
competition for relocating businesses, this retention effort shows
Denver is
a smart business decision."

The Mayor's Office of Economic Development and International Trade will
continue working closely with NOBEL/SYSCO to assist them with their
transition into a new facility and will also be focusing on the
redevelopment of the current facility at Pecos and West 48th Ave.
