Baker Named Senior Vice President for Forest City Stapleton, Inc. |
Denver---Hank Baker has been named Senior Vice President for Forest City Stapleton, the master developer that was selected to transform Denver’s former airport into a mixed-use urban community of 12,000 homes and apartments, 13 million square feet of commercial uses and more than 1,100 acres of new parks and open space.
Mr. Baker joined Forest City Stapleton, Inc. in 1998 when he opened Forest City’s Denver office. He later assumed the responsibilities for marketing the redevelopment of the 4,700-acre former airport property. Stapleton has won national and international acclaim for its commitment to sustainable development and a quality of life that set new standards for “the art of urban living.”
Mr. Baker is now the principal Forest City official assigned to work on economic development activities in concert with the State of Colorado, the City of Denver, the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, and the DIA Business Partnership. He continues to work with Forest City’s senior development executives on office and commercial development at Stapleton, which is projected to have 10 million square feet of offices and three million square feet of retail when it is fully complete in twenty years. Nearly one million square feet of retail stores are now open at Stapleton with construction scheduled to begin on another million square feet of new retail, anchored by Bass Pro, north of Interstate 70 early next year. Forest City also recently announced the 200-acre Denver Biotechnology Center at Stapleton to complement the Fitzsimons research efforts adjacent to the Stapleton property.
During his 25 years in real estate development, Mr. Baker has had direct responsibility for the acquisition, design, development and management of nearly $750 million in urban real estate projects. From 1986 to 1992, Mr. Baker was Vice President in charge of Forest City’s San Francisco office. Prior to that role, he was Vice President-Marketing for Irvine
Apartment Communities, a division of The Irvine Company, owner of the 90,000-acre master planned Irvine Ranch in southern California. He is a graduate of Cornell University and a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Cornell Real Estate Council and the University of Colorado Real Estate Council.
Forest City Stapleton, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Forest City Enterprises, a $5 billion NYSE-listed real estate company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. The Company is principally engaged in the ownership, development, acquisition and management of commercial and residential real estate throughout the United States. The Company's portfolio includes interests in retail centers, apartment communities, office buildings and hotels in 21 states and the District of Columbia.
