Forest City has the "Midas Touch" at Stapleton

Forest City recently earned its first LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building council for 3055 Roslyn St., a two-story office building located at the Company’s Stapleton development in Denver.

“This building is another step in Stapleton’s commitment to environmental stewardship, which can already be seen within our residential home builder community and at the LEED Silver-certified Shops at Northfield Stapleton,” said Jon Ratner, vice president, Sustainability Initiatives.

“We are very pleased to share this new building with a community that values resource conservation and green building, and to build upon the City of Denver’s commitment to sustainability,” Ratner added.

The 48,000 square foot building at 3055 Roslyn St. has several environmentally friendly features, including waterless urinals, dual flush toilets and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

“The locker rooms are a nice feature for anyone who wants to ride their bikes to work,” said David Ditchman, director, Leasing, Forest City Stapleton.

The building is also located near major public bus routes and will see the addition of a nearby light rail stop in 2015. According to Ditchman, 3055 Roslyn St. is now over 50 percent leased. The building received LEED certification in the core and shell development category. According to the U.S. Green Building Council, core and shell construction covers base building elements, such as the structure, envelope and building-level systems, including central HVAC and alike.

“The certification of this office building in Stapleton’s East 29th Avenue Town Center sends a message that Forest City cares about the health of the building’s users and employees,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president and CEO, U.S. Green Building Council.

“Everyone’s comfort, safety and well-being will benefit from the fresh air and natural daylight.” Forest City acquired a LEED Gold-certified building, Building Q at the Illinois Science + Technology Park, in early 2005. Building Q was built in 2000 by Pharmacia Corporation.
